  14. Thanks to all who replied about my lack of a color Mac icon at startup!
  15. As suggested by several people, I simply switched to Black & White in the 
  16. Monitors Control Panel, then back to 256 colors. That unconfused the system 
  17. and everything is working perfectly again!
