- I'm a bit confused by some strange behavior that my IIsi (running
- 7.0.1 w/ Tuneup 1.1.1) has recently started exhibiting at boot time,
- so I'm hoping somebody has seen the symptoms before.
-
- The problem is first apparent when the "Welcome to Macintosh" box
- comes up at boot. Normally, the little artsy Mac logo is in color, but
- now it is in black and white. Then, the screen clears before my any
- extensions show their icons. These are the only symptoms, and the
- system appears to run okay, but it still makes me wonder what is
- wrong.
-
- To try to fix it, I zapped the PRAM, to no avail. Then I booted under
- system 6.0.7, with the same results. The display control panel is set
- to 256 colors, and, other than the Mac logo, color works fine.
-
- Then I tried turning all extensions off by holding the shift key down
- at boot, but same results (no extension icons, of course). So I asked
- myself what was loading at that point, and all I could think of was
- the System and the disk device drivers. I re-installed System 7.0.1
- and the Tuneup, but that didn't change a thing. I also used
- Silverlining to re-install the disk device drivers. Again, nothing!
-
- Does anyone have any ideas? The possibility of a hardware problem has
- occurred to me, but the system is otherwise performing like a champ.
-
- Any suggestions?
-
- Thanks,
-
