- It depends if the external speaker tap comes before (computer side) or after
- (speaker side) of the contacts in question. As it happens, the contacts are
- right on the speaker almost, the tap out for the external speaker must come
- on the computer side. Therefore, external speaker working despite the built-
- in one failing supports the theory that it's the speaker contacts.

- One thing that hasn't come out in all this is that when my IIsi goes into
- failure mode, EVEN THE STARTUP SOUND fails. That's pretty hard to blame on
- software, guys. Bump the CPU a little, sound again, everybody happy.

- At least for my machine, I'm more than convinced it's just the contacts.

- Now if somebody would REALLY identify the ^&*(^&(* mouse-up failure!!! Grrr.
