  10. I wonder if anyone can help me out.  I'm helping organise a
  11. conference soon, and I've been asked to work out hoew to
  12. connect a Powebook 100 or 140 _directly_ to a LW IIf (that's
  13. all we'll have with us.)

  15. It seems I need a serial connection between the machines, but I
  16. can't get it to work.  I've set the printer up to talk RS-422 on
  17. the 9-pin port instead of LocalTalk, but the LaserWriter 7.1.1
  18. driver simply demands that it requires Appletalk to be active, so
  19. I get nowhere.

  21. Does anyone have any ideas how this can be done?  I know I
  22. ought to do it "properly" by getting a couple of LocalTalk
  23. boxes and setting it up that way, but I don't have any of these
  24. available.

  26. The IIf manual (page 29) states that directly connecting a mac to
  27. a IIf with a serial line is "not recommended" but does that mean it's
  28. impossile?
