- I wonder if anyone can help me out. I'm helping organise a
- conference soon, and I've been asked to work out hoew to
- connect a Powebook 100 or 140 _directly_ to a LW IIf (that's
- all we'll have with us.)
-
- It seems I need a serial connection between the machines, but I
- can't get it to work. I've set the printer up to talk RS-422 on
- the 9-pin port instead of LocalTalk, but the LaserWriter 7.1.1
- driver simply demands that it requires Appletalk to be active, so
- I get nowhere.
-
- Does anyone have any ideas how this can be done? I know I
- ought to do it "properly" by getting a couple of LocalTalk
- boxes and setting it up that way, but I don't have any of these
- available.
-
- The IIf manual (page 29) states that directly connecting a mac to
- a IIf with a serial line is "not recommended" but does that mean it's
- impossile?
-
- Replies by email please,
- Thanks in advance,
