  13. When I start my program up, it draws the screen, redraws the screen, and then gets going
  14. I narrowed it down to an update event that either isn't getting killed off
  15. when it should, or is getting generated when it's not supposed to.  Using the 
  16. thinkC debugger, I found that my handleUpdateEvent() routine is getting called
  17. immediately after I enter the event loop. I tried to flush the events right before
  18. I enetered the loop, but that din't work either.  I'm rapidly  running out of idas
  19. and I'm starting to consider NOT drawing my screen initially, but just let the update
  20. routine handle it when I start up...
