- I am working on a very fast drag-n-drop compressor. I did not like the
- automatic compression of AutoDoubler, nor the amount of memory
- AutoDoubler/DiskDoubler takes.
-
- If I use large buffers (that is around 300k for the program), then I get
- speeds about 10% faster than DiskDoubler using AutoDoubler compression
- in its foreground only mode. And I have not rewritten the
- compression/decompression in assembler yet (this will happen
- eventually). In this mode I have a 3.200.000+ bytes large file that
- compresses in 25 seconds on my SE/30, and decompresses in 15.
-
- I want the beta testers to try it out, but also to give me some feedback
- on improvements and user interface issues. Currently it is drag-n-drop
- with no GUI at all. Errors are displayed using DebugStr, so you should
- be one of those always having a debugger installed.
