I am hoping that someone out there will be able to explain "why" I am having a problem and "what" I can do to fix it. To begin with, I have a Macintosh Plus
with 4 meg RAM connected via SCSI to a GCC Technologies 30 meg hard drive.
I have System 7 running (installed using "custom" feature for the MAC Plus).
A few days ago I started my hard drive then switched on the MAC. The MAC
performed the RAM check then the screen went blank. The hard drive activity
light remained on just as the MAC screen went blank, then....nothing... The
MAC for some reason would not boot from the hard drive. I was able to start
the MAC with the System Tools disk, it started fine. When I tried to "test"
the hard drive with Disk First Aid, I got a message that said "No Appropriate
SCSI Device Found, Press Return to Restart". At this point I pressed restart
then I shut downed the MAC. I restarted the MAC using the GCC Tech. disk that
came with the hard drive. Using the GCC Disk Manager software I was now able
to "test" the hard drive. It received a "A+" rating. I then formatted and
initialized the hard drive using the GCC Tech. software. I then re-installed
System 7 and Tune-up and a few applications. I attempted to run Disk First Aid
again but got the same message. My MAC works ok for now but why won't Disk FA
find the SCSI drive ?
Thanks in advance for your advice/help...
Sincerely,
Lost in Maryland......
