- I had a similar problem with System 7 and QM 2.5.1. I use a separate Mac
- CI for my QM server and had turned on System 7 File Sharing to facilitate
- backing up the server across the network with Retrospect. Over the next
- day or two a lot of entries started showing up in the QM server's Dead
- Mail queue. Users started complaining that they often couldn't connect
- to the MailCenter.
-
- CE Software's Tech Support told me there was a known problem with QM
- 2.5.1 and File Sharing and that turning File Sharing off would solve the
- problem. Supposedly it's a bug in Apple's Sharing software. If they
- couldn't get Apple to correct their mistake, CE would probably issue a
- patch to QM.
-
- I'll make the assumption here that you're using AppleShare 3.0 since you
- mention System 7.1. Since AppleShare 3.0 and File Sharing are similarly
- configured I'll bet you'll get a similar answer from CE.
-
- If you find out exactly who's going to fix the problem (Apple or CE), let
- us all know.
