  29. I had a similar problem with System 7 and QM 2.5.1.  I use a separate Mac
  30. CI for my QM server and had turned on System 7 File Sharing to facilitate
  31. backing up the server across the network with Retrospect. Over the next
  32. day or two a lot of entries started showing up in the QM server's Dead
  33. Mail queue.  Users started complaining that they often couldn't connect
  34. to the MailCenter.

  36. CE Software's Tech Support told me there was a known problem with QM
  37. 2.5.1 and File Sharing and that turning File Sharing off would solve the
  38. problem.  Supposedly it's a bug in Apple's Sharing software. If they
  39. couldn't get Apple to correct their mistake, CE would probably issue a
  40. patch to QM.

  42. I'll make the assumption here that you're using AppleShare 3.0 since you
  43. mention System 7.1.   Since AppleShare 3.0 and File Sharing are similarly
  44. configured I'll bet you'll get a similar answer from CE.
