- I forgot to tell you: contact your local ESIC (if you can find it), or
- call:
- 1-800-USA-MAPS. The folks on the other end should be able to either
- provide the info you need, or can direct you to the right source.
- Presently, the ESIC (Earth Science Information Center) system offers
- several types of data in digital form, and it's their job to provide it to
- users. I quote from their pamphlet:
- "Much of the mapping information we have is now being converted to digital
- form. If the digits are in our data, we can provide them to you."
- "Call for our information package on digital cartographic data."
-
- If anybody can, it seems to me that the ESICs ought to be able to tell
- you what formats are being used. There are 75 ESICs, so there ought to be
- one within a reasonable distance of you. So give 'em a call, and good
- luck.
