- Thanks to all who responded to my request for info- all two of you.
- I'll briefly summarize the results anyway:
-
- Respondent #1 said that Adobe Illustrator would display coloured
- text in a dither pattern on a black and white screen. However, its
- text-handling capabilities would not be suitable for my needs. He
- also suggested colouring the output by hand after it came out of
- e.g. a laserwriter, if the volume was small. He commented that he
- found the user interface on PageMaker to be unwieldly.
-
- Respondent #2 said I had more than enough software already (no, I
- just have demos or was able to test the packages at the university
- computer centre) and that I should instead pay an English or
- creative writing major to
- do it for me. Coincidentally respondent #2 was himself just such a
- major, freelancing in publication design.
-
- That was about it as far as responses to my specific questions went.
- I would have thought that with the popularity of the Powerbooks many
- more people would have had experience with trying to use a little bit of
- colour on a black and white screen for DTP. Maybe you're all on
- vacation.
-
- Thanks again for the suggestions.
