- COMPLETELY UNTRUE! There's plenty of capacity for learning. Just
- because I spend time interacting with people and learning what I want and need
- to know rather than learning USELESS AT commands and sweraing at my modem is no
- reason to knock the service.

- This reminds a LOT of complaints about the Mac interface circa 1984.
- Since it didn't look like every other computer interface to come down the pike
- people complained that the Mac couldn't really be a computer, that you couldn't
- do work on one, and that you couldn't learn "computers" without a command-line
- interface. Eight years later with Windows, NeXTStep, Presentation Manager,
- Motif, OpenWindows, etc., I think we know who's paradigm won. And there are
- BBS's (Telefinder and Novalink come to mind) that use GUI's similar to AOL.

- The same thing every other user does the first time I suspect.

- Seems you're putting the cart before the horse here. You should be
- complaining about the brain-dead BBS's and services that require you to know
- about these things, not about the one that makes life easy for you. There's
- nothing fundamentally enlightening or fulfilling about AT commands and download
- protocols. I don't need to know how to connect my TV to the cable or the
- encryption protocols used for HBO to watch City Slickers. I shouldn't have to
- know about ZModem or ATDT to download a game.
