- With the help of Insignia's SoftAT 2.5, I ran MS-DOS 5.0 on a Quadra
- 900. It worked *perfectly*, and was rather peppy speed-wise, too.
-
- Then, being the techno-sadist I am, I decided to try Windows 3.0.
-
- Much to my surprise, it ran. To call it 'sluggish' would be an
- understatement, but it was still useable. I told it to use my Mac's
- hard drive as a 'network drive', then I used the Quadra to download
- (via ftp) a bunch of .zip archives of Windows public domain files; in
- the SoftAT window, I used the File Manager to copy the archives to the
- 'PC hard drive' where I then exited to DOS to run PK-zip and unarchive
- them all; none of the resulting files and programs gave me the
- slightest bit of trouble.

-
- On my Quadra 900, Windows 3.0 ran with the speed it would on a 286 or
- 386sx machine. I'd wager that Windows 3.1 on a Quadra 950 would
- actually be useable.
-
- I heard that at MacWorld, Insignia was showing off a version of
- their SoftPC program that was optimized to run Windows on a Mac.
-
- Whatever floats their boats... :)
