- I do most of my work with SuperCard (rapid prototyping, at a conceptual but
- functional level, of innovative CASE/CAD systems). Currently I'm working on a
- Quadra 950, under System 7 with SuperCard 1.6. A 3rd party graphics card is
- from SuperMAC, supporting a large (19-20 inch) screen with 24-bit color.
-
- My applications probably push SuperTalk harder and farther than its
- designers intended. Nonetheless, I have found its robustness to be acceptable in
- view of the ease of programming of complex software. SuperCard does sometimes
- blow up - its memory management has had problems from its birth, and not all
- have been eliminated. But these can be worked around (I will talk about the
- workarounds by email, if you wish). Even factoring in the time cost of these
- problems, the overall time spent on my task is a lot smaller than the expected
- implementation time to do the same work in Smalltalk or Common Lisp.
-
- In direct reply to your concerns: I have had no compatibility problems at all
- with SC 1.6 on the rather well-stacked development system noted above. I have no
- experience (yet) with accelerators or Quicktime. When I do, I'll post any problem
- that arise.
