-
- Sounds like a problem I've seen _twice_. My PB 100 has been sent back
- twice to Apple for the same kind of fluctuating battery charge problem.
-
- And by "fluctuating," I mean large (3-4 indicator bars) fluctuations, and
- ultimately a failure to charge at all.
-
- In both cases Apple replaced the main logic board. If this happens once
- my 1-year warranty expires, I'll be angry.
-
- BTW, my first repair, in April or May, took 3 days, door to door. Great.
- My second repair, recently, took 2 weeks! I got my 100 back with these
- problems:
- - no paperwork at alll
- - no charger/adapter
- - missing the 2 MB of RAM I'd had installed!
-
- After a couple of hours on the phone (on hold, waiting for info, etc.),
- the Appleoids told me they were swamped with repairs, hence the confusion.
-
- I eventually got the 100 back, and Apple even nicely threw in a new
- battery because of my troubles.
-
- In conclusion, I'm worried about the 100's basic reliability. Two blown
- logic boards is bad news. Once the warranties are expired, will these
- cost $500 a pop? I may sign up for AppleCare (for the first time in more
- than 6 years of using Macs).
