- First of all, let's straighten a few things out. What you see when you
- use your Macintosh is not the Mac OS. It is a graphical user interface
- to the Mac OS (like MS Windows is a graphical user interface to DOS). I
-
- BTW, one severe limitation, in my opinion, of the current Mac OS is that
- there is no command line interface to the operating system. There are
-
- Ah, but you don't know what you're talking about.
-
- First, you tell us to differentiate between the interface
- (command.com versus Finder versus Program Manager) and you
- say that the OS != the shell/interface.
-
- Then, you say the problem with the Mac OS is it doesn't
- have a shell in your taste - a contradiction. And it isn't
- even true:
-
- 1) MPW has been around for NN years. It has a lot of tools for
- handling files, building programs, editting, ...
- 2) Userland Frontier exists.
- 3) Alpha (the shareware editor) has a shell built-in (based on
- the "tickle" language)
- 4) I wrote a freeware CLI called "!Dos" to end the "the mac has
- no CLI" argument. It's not industrial grade, however :-)

- - I have decided that it is not boxes but my lack of skill that's the problem.
- - Traitor! This kind of attitude will get you nowhere around here. If you must
- know, it's not your boxes that are the problem, it's your lack of a
- sufficient number of boxes. Go out and buy something.
