- Also, be sure that you've turned file sharing off on the system 7 mac
- (System 6 doesn't have this feature), if your comparison is in the
- Finder, be sure to turn "show folder sizes" off (System 6 doesn't have
- this feature), turn off your color icons (run in 1 bit mode) (System 6
- doesn't have this feature), etc... To make reasonable "fair" speed
- comparisons between Systems 7 and 6, you must run identical setups. I
- have been running system 7 on an old, slow mac SE (with 4 Mb RAM) (and
- on Mac Pluses) since its release, and I have never noticed any speed
- slowdown compared to the old days of system 6 (except when I turn
- filesharing on). From *my* experience, I find all the complaints I've
- read about System 7 being slow, e.g. "especially on a Plus," unfounded.
