- Way too many Macs on our ethernet (using various Asante cards with
- various 3.x drivers, and a few EN/SC's) had been locking up frequently,
- with no apparent pattern to software, network location, other net events
- (the the Novell file & ccMail server crashing, broadcast storms, lots of
- collsions). Comparing the output of their diagnostic software from
- stable and crashing machines, didn't reveal anything. After a few
- conversations, Asante's support folks assured me specifically that mixing
- driver versions shouldn't be a problem. Well, after upgrading all the
- machines to the latest drivers, things have settled down almost
- completely.
-
- Odd, and i can't imagine that the problem was _caused_ by the software,
- even though getting everyone on the latest version made the problem go
- away.
