- Well I did some checking on this. I wrote Bill Steinberg and asked him
- whether the HD is parked when sleeping. Bill is the guy who wrote that
- neat little Fkey called SpinD. SpinD spins down your powerbook HD on your
- command. So if you know you aren't going to access it for a while you don't
- have to wait for the system to shut it down. This is a good power management
- tool. I highly recommend it. It is available at ftp.apple.com pub/powerbook.
-
- End of plug and back to the question at hand. Bill wrote me back and here is
- what he had to say:

- - The answer is that when the drive is not spinning, the heads are parked.
-
- - Period. The truth.
-
- - When the PB is sleeping, the drive is not spinning and the heads are parked.

- In addition to this information I also recall a powerbook FAQ that was posted
- here several weeks ago. This FAQ 'sheet' also said that the PB HD was parked
- when sleeping. Does anyone know where that FAQ is accessable? If someone has
- it could you mail me a copy so that I can summarize for the net.
