- I've gotten lots of email on this topic, mostly people wanting to know what I
- find out. One person I talked to actually did this, and it sounds fairly
- straightforward if you have any experience in dealing with SCSI wiring and
- opening up your Mac. Basically all it involves is getting a Y-adapter for the
- hard drive power source (so instead of going from your MacII power socket
- directly to the internal HD, it goes to BOTH internal HD's) and making a
- daisy-chain SCSI which is usually just a matter of adding one of the plastic
- socket plugs on to the existing SCSI cable and routing it to the new drive (if
- you can't follow me, it's probably my fault and a schematic would be helpful,
- but I can't do one in text). The physical part of putting the drive in the
- MacII is easy; bracket kits can be purchased (see the back of MacWeek or any
- Mac Magazine) and then mount this in the second drive slot. In other words,
- you need to be mechanically competent and unafraid of playing around inside
- your Mac. Alternately go to a dealer and pay a lot for them to do it, if they
- will...
