- I beta tested CPU, so figure whatever bias you want. I can say that when,
- after a long trip out of town, my beta copy timed out and committed suicide,
- I really missed it. I agree that the battery life indication still needs work,
- but since I have two batteries it doesn't matter much: I can always wait for
- the system to give the "reserve power" warning and then make the switch.
-
- What I like is that I have control over the hard drive, can disable my CAPS LOCK
- key, set how the processor rests, use the LCD screen saver, and all with one
- CDEV instead of a raft of FKEYs and Extensions. It helped me conserve power so
- well on my 170 that I set records during SIGGRAPH for time between charges. I
- also take my 'Book into lots of different environments, so the multiple "sets"
- of settings is right handy for me.
-
- CPU may have more features than you'll ever use, but it makes it easy to turn
- them off, and then you never have to mess with them if you don't want to. I
- think it's a pretty nifty widget, and I wouldn't let the confused battery meter
- deter me from buying it, knowing what I know now. They'll get those power
- curves figured out eventually.
