- + I read in one of the alt.pictures groups about GIF weather maps, updated
- + hourly, available at FTP site vmd.cso.uiuc.edu (you have to tell Fetch to
- + change working directory to wx). I got into the site ok, and tried
- + dowloading a few examples, using "binary". However, I've not been able to
- + get any of the files to display with any of several Mac GIF viewers- each
- + says the file is damaged or in an invalid format. A friend on an IBM PC
- + downloaded the same files and had no problem displaying them with his GIF
- + viewer. Any ideas?

- Go under the menu Custom. Select Suffix Mapping. I think there is an
- entry for the .gif extension. Edit this, selecting the application you
- want to view the gifs with. This is for v2.1b2. v2.06 has a less friendly
- method of doing it, but is similar, and is found under the Fetch menu.
-
- The file type has to be GIFf.
