- I have read lots of theoretical stuff on this chip, about how it is and isn't
- a 486. I have some documents from which indicate:
-
- - Intel 486sx/25 does 83.61 Landmark benchmark
-
- - Cyrix 486slc/25 does 78.40 Landmark benchmark
-
- - Intel 386sl/25 does 32.54 Landmark benchmark
-
- Ergo, I figger performance is equivalent.
-
- The 486slc is a 16 bit chip, which means fewer pins. Ergo .8 sq inches
- instead of 2.25 sq in.
-
- The power figures on the chips are:
- Active Suspend
- ------- -------
- Intel 486sx lp 2.5watt 500mwatts
- Cyrix 486slc 2.0watt .5mwatt
-
-
- I presently have an Tandon NB 486slc here. The only "benchmark" I have run
- is running Xenix and Wordperfect and rebuilding the index on a large training
- manual. In that test it seemed about 25% faster than a AT&T6386e (20mhz
- 386DX with big ESDI disks). That is a lousy benchmark for the rest of you,
- but I will run anything (within reason) anyone wants to send me.
