- Now that I have running a unix (Linux) on my Travelmate
- 3000 I have some problems with the power management.
- Fortunately the harddisk shuts itself down if not
- used for 2 minutes.
-
- But now I'd like to save more power by disabling the LCD-
- Backlight (during compilation) and slowing down the CPU
- during editing. But the features seem to be controlled
- by the BIOS, which does not work under Unix.
- Has anybody information which ports to program to get
- the desired effect? Then I could simply write a normal
- program that does the task.
-
- And a last question: Will the TM3000 warn me about a
- forthcoming power-failure independent of the BIOS
- (by an external watch and beep circuitry) or will
- it fail suddenly?
-
- Thanks very much
