- Yes, there are two versions. The first SBPro came with twin FM chips for
- its stereo sound. The second SBPro comes with the new Yamaha OPL chip for true
- stereo sound.
-
- How do you tell the difference? Well, the first SBPro only comes one way:
- it includes the card, software and the MIDI connector cable. Also, you'll
- see the words "Twin FM chips providing 22 voices" on the side of the box where
- it lists the SB Pro features.
-
- The newer SB Pro is sold in two formats 1) the "Basic" package which is the
- card and software 2) the "Full" package which includes the MIDI stuff as well.
-
- Make sure the box says "Yamaha OPL chip" so that you get the newer SB Pro.
-
- I know that one of the local stores here have both kinds so it's really
- confusing to those who aren't aware of the differences.
-
- From what I could see, the price didn't change at all.
-
- Hope this helps,
- Chen
