- MR≈│1) has anyone had any experience with FastMicro?
- │I am interested because of their chip upgradability (386-40 to
- │486DX-50)
-
- I've just ordered 2 486dx-33's and 2 486dx-50's from them. I've dealt
- with them before (though this is the first time I've bought anything
- with a FastMicro label) and found their customer service staff to be
- quite good. I've never had need for tech support, but they promise
- overnite shipping of replacement parts and free GE on-site service if
- necessary. They claim that all of their systems are now universally
- upgradable (no special board, just replace the chip). The only possible
- drawback to their arrangement is a 15% restocking fee on returns.
- Prices are very good: $1699 for the 33's and $1999 for the 50's, all
- with 4 megs RAM ($120 extra for 8 megs), 170meg Conner IDE HD's, 2 floppy
- drives, 1meg video card (their own Tseng-based), 126K RAM cache,
- MS mouse, Windows, and DOS 5.
