- Assuming you use the RAM with that is at least as fast as specified by the
- manufacturer - you will see no performance improvement using faster RAM.
- Most systems now produced use an external cache in addition to the 486's 8K
- internal cache. They are also set for zero wait states with these caches.
- It is possible I suppose to find a 486 system using no cache and with wait
- states - in this case the motherboard MAY permit the installation of faster
- RAM and telling the CMOS setup to use zero waits.
