- My Gateway keyboard, about 1 & 1/2 years old, has a space bar that is dying.
- It pushes down and tends to stay down, and while in the down position other
- keys tend to send an extra space here and there. I talked with a Gateway rep
- who said "try lubricating it" [I did, and that didn't work] and "I can sell
- you a new keyboard for $65". I'd rather not buy another keyboard from
- Gateway, since I use the computer maybe 4 hours a week and their space bar
- just didn't last.
-
- So, what's a good, reliable keyboard? I like function keys along the top,
- having the keyboard set up pretty much the same as Gateway is a plus, and I
- want something that'll last more than a year and a half. It doesn't have to
- be able to withstand a nuclear blast, just normal wear. Low price and a good
- warranty are plusses.
-
- Please email me and I'll summarize.
-
- Many thanks, I haven't a clue how to get this information in any good way (I
- occasionally see recommendations in Byte by Pournelle on this topic, but _you_
- try combing through past issues in search of specific information!).
