- It's funny that you heard a rep say that they no longer support Ultrastor
- controllers, as I remember configuring at least two machines that included
- Ultrastors, recently. I do agree about the comment that when you MUST have
- X, you're likely to get Y with Gateway and recommend that people be
- prepared to mix and match as necessary. As an example, I'm recommending
- Adaptec 1542 SCSI controllers for software compatibility, and Quantum
- LPS-240 SCSI drives for reliability. This often means that I order Gateways
- with 80 Mb Western Digital IDE drives and transfer the software to the
- Quantum. Also, I remember at least one client that wanted a Sony monitor
- (1304 or 1604), or an NEC (3FGX or 4FG).
