  11. Three unrelated questions:

  13. 1)    Has anyone had any experience with Hitatchi monitors or
  14. mitsumi CD rom drives?  I have an opporunity to get my hands on 
  15. a smokin' 486, and these are in the package.  My only problem is 
  16. that this 20" monitor has a .31 dot pitch

  18. 2)    Local bus: OK, who is the wise guy.  Micronics and Zeos
  19. say there is a VESA standard, and they are following it.  Intel
  20. says that there currently is no standard, and that there won't 
  21. be until Jan. 93.   Many companies are complaining that there
  22. is no standard, and since they were 1st to use local bus technology
  23. (i.e. - gigabyte), doesn't that make it seem a bit strange that
  24. some claim it exists already?

  26. 3)    Another problem here: local bus boosts the speed of the
  27. bus from say 8MHz to 33MHz (about 4X)... are there any graphics
  28. chips that are ready to handle this speed increase -- I don't 
  29. think so!  Not yet anyway.  As an example, look at the recent 
  30. diamond ss24x which is a technological step back using DRAM!
  31. If we haven't yet exausted the usefulness of the ISA bus, and
  32. definitely not the bus mastering of EISA, why do we need this
  33. local bus confusion?
