- I'm in the market for an external high speed data&fax modem,
- and I'm currently looking at the Twincom 14.4 DF (seen for $299
- on mail order).
-
- It says in the ads, among other thigs,
- 14,400 bps Industry Standard, V.32bis...
- Auto Fallback & Fallforward ...
-
- It does not say, V.32 at 9600 bps.
-
- Is this automatically implied by 14,400 bps/V.32bis?
-
- Or is it possible that it operates in a non-standard way at 9600 bps,
- or that it doesn't operate at 9600 bps at all?
-
- Also, what's a 16550 UART Interface?
-
- I always thought the 16550 UART was a chip, not an interface.
-
- Any other comments about that modem? Are there better deals?
- (It has also V.42, V.42bis, MNP 2-5 protocols, send/receive fax
- at 14,400 and 9600 bps, etc.)
