  23. Before I bought my 486 with Stealth VRAM in June, I had played with
  24. machines in local stores and they had either Trident 8900 cards or
  25. ET4000 cards (the latter being the CompuAdd HiREZ card in their "Hot
  26. Slot" 12.5MHz ISA slot).

  28. They were awful!  I played with the Windows Write program from 3.1 and
  29. typed a few lines of text.  The Trident and ET4000 cards seemed to
  30. flicker and flash the current line every time I hit a character.  I
  31. entered text in multiple fonts, multiple sizes and multiple styles.
  32. It took forever to scroll around or even redraw windows when
  33. uncovered.

  35. Then I tried a Stealth and everything was instantenous.  Scrolling is
  36. very, very fast, even with multi-font/size/style text, redraws were in
  37. the blink of an eye, etc.  I've only played with a few major Windows
  38. apps, but the only one that was slow on my Stealth was Finale, the
  39. music composition program, but that thing would be slow on a 486/1000
  40. with 4 Tb of RAM :-).

  48. Yes, the lack of OS/2 drivers really sucks!  But the Stealth does come
  49. with drivers for stuff besides Windows, including various CAD
  50. programs, MS Word for DOS, Lotus 123 for DOS, and others.

  52. I haven't seen the Speedstar 24 so I can't compare it with the
  53. Stealth.
