- A 16550 has a FIFO on it, but it does not work. NSC urged users _NOT_ to use
- FIFO and bought back as much of these faulty ones as they could get.
- The UM82550 is said to be a 16550 replacement, also faulty.

- The only replacement of a 16450 with working FIFOS are the 16550A-types,
- there is a 16C550 which seams to behave like 16550A.
