- I've tried to ask this before and got no replies.
-
- Does anyone _know_ for _certain_ if the
- new Cyrix processors are "plug-in" replacements
- for the Intel 80386 devices or not?
-
- Or are PC motherboard changes needed?
-
- I know there are at least two Cyrix chips
- around, both offering 80486SX instruction
- sets and approx. performance, and that
- one is a bit like a 80386SX (pinout wise)
- and the other is a bit like a 80386DX.
-
- But, to repeat the question, does anyone know
- if they can be dropped into an unmodifed 80386
- PC motherboard? If they can, has anyone out
- there done it? Is there a gain in performance?
-
- Please, if you _know_ this for certain, post to
- the net as I'm sure others would like to know.
-
- Thanks in advance.
