  11. I've tried to ask this before and got no replies.

  13. Does anyone _know_ for _certain_ if the
  14. new Cyrix processors are "plug-in" replacements
  15. for the Intel 80386 devices or not?

  17. Or are PC motherboard changes needed?

  19. I know there are at least two Cyrix chips
  20. around, both offering 80486SX instruction
  21. sets and approx. performance, and that
  22. one is a bit like a 80386SX (pinout wise)
  23. and the other is a bit like a 80386DX.

  25. But, to repeat the question, does anyone know
  26. if they can be dropped into an unmodifed 80386
  27. PC motherboard?  If they can, has anyone out
  28. there done it?  Is there a gain in performance?
