  10. We have an HP9000/827s running HP-UX 8.02.

  12. We do our news & mail runs by polling our "upstream" feed.  When our
  13. modem calls and gets a busy signal or NO CARRIER, it takes from 3 to 6
  14. minutes for uucico to timeout and relenquish the line.  3 minutes was
  15. the norm for quite some time, but 6 has suddenly become the snooze time
  16. of choice.

  18. Question: What can be done to allow uucico to recognize that the 
  19. modem's given up, or how can one decrease uucico's timout period?
