- Hello !
-
- We are about to purchase a Fujitsu Disk M2652SA (around 2 GB unformatted/
- 1.6 GB formatted). Will this drive work in A DEC System 5500 ?
-
- It won't be the system disk, it will contain only user data.
-
- I think Ultrix V4.2A has no problems with SCSI disk with more
- than 1 GB capacity, correct ? Correct ! I just found lot's of disk
- types with more than 1 GB capacity in the 'ultrix-disktabs' file from
- gatekeeper.dec.com's FTP archive.
-
- Synchronous negotiation might be a problem, but might not as
- there is Fujitsu's M2266SA listed in 'ultrix-disktabs' with the
- following comment:
- open switch 15-16 let host initiate SCSI sync mode
-
- Mounting: it would be nice to have the disk (5 1/2 inch form factor)
- mounted in the BA 430 enclosure of the DS 5500 just besides the RF72.
- Are the neccessary mounting parts purchasable standard DEC parts ?
-
- NB: is seems that the back panel behind the disk slots carries
- power and DSSI signals and SCSI signals. As far as I have looked
- into the disk slots, both the DSSI controller cable and the SCSI
- controller cable are connected to that back panel. The Operation
- Manual talks about DSSI RF-series ISEs (ISE = Integrated Storage Element)
- in the same way as SCSI RZ-series ISEs. It also says (mounting problem
- above): 'Special mounting hardware allows the device to plug directly
- into the BA400-series backplane'.
