- Hi,
-
- I've just got my nice brand spanking new decstation 5000/25 and I'm
- attempting to use the floppy drive. I've identified the fd0 devices in /dev
- as the appropriate locations to address, but I'm having trouble successfully
- using the device.
-
- My guess is that when I pop in one of the two disks they provide you with
- that you have to use newfs to format the disk, and then use mount to get to
- it. Every time I attempt this using the rx26 pattern in disktab I get an
- error involving a failure to access the partition table.
-
- I previously used Suns and they had a format command that would allow you to
- reformat disks - is there something like this on a DS, because I can't find
- one? Any help from the gurus out there would be appreciated.
-
- NB. Has anyone developed scripts to do this sort of thing: format a floppy
- disk, mount the drive, unmount the drive, etc..?
