- Mike Van Pelt, you asked about a stronger pwr supply for the C=64. If you
- check the specs on the pwr supply that comes with the 1764 reu, you will
- see that it is a C=128 unit with a C=64 end connector.
-
- The stock C=64 supply trys to put out 1.7 amps, while the C=128/1764 unit
- easily supplies over 4 amps!! The C=128/1764 pwr supply is repairable, and
- has an accessable fuse, as opposed to the stock C=64 unit being epoxy
- encapsulated... yes, it DOES have a fuse inside all that epoxy, but I defy
- you or anyone else to change it, let alone find it.
-
- The HD C=128/1764 pwr supply is available to you if you buy a 1764 reu, or
- if you buy one from Software Support Intrnational. They buy 1764 reu's,
- add the 8 missing dram chips, and sell the result as a "1750 clone" for
- about $149 or 199, and the heavy duty pwr supply for $39.95. Run was
- selling the 1764's for $89 a while back, and that price included the HD pwr
- supply. Don't waste your money on the so called "HD pwr supplies" being
- sold by others because they MIGHT put out 2 amps, and they cost the same,
- or more than the stock reu unit.
