- I got this from the Atari Benelux BBS:
- ----
-
- Technical information date: 25 may 1992 number: 105
-
- High Density drive in MEGA STE
-
- If you install a high density kit in a MEGA STE with a serial number
- starting with A13 or a lower number (for example: A09) and it doesn't work
- in HD mode then the following points must be checked:
-
- Test if there is a connection between U7 pin 32 and UA2 pin 19. If
- there is no connection, solder a wire between these points.
-
- Check if the PAL UA2 has the CO number C301901-002 (the PAL
- C301901-001 doesn't work with a HD drive). C301901-002 has
- order number 620100 [for Atari Benelux at least - CvR].
-

-
- Disclaimer: I only translated this. I'm not responsible for fried
- Ataris or HD drives.
-
- Remember that you may need a AJAX chip to replace the original disk
- controller. I recommend the replacement anyway since even if the original
- controller works at the higher speed, it was never designed for it.
-
- Since I am one of the unlucky victims, I will try the patch above
- as soon as possible.
