- I don't know exactly what fax software usually does, but I thought I
- should mention that ghostscript comes with source for a couple of fax
- drivers (but they aren't compiled into the ST version of GS). I don't
- know if the output format would work with your particular modem, but it
- should be fairly easy to write new drivers that do, assuming you know
- what format you need. These GS fax drivers just convert a PostScript
- file into a bitmap that the fax modem can understand, so presumably you
- still need something to send the bitmap to the faxmodem. If all that is
- required is sending the file to the serial port, well that is no
- problem, and GS can even do that. Since GS is free, this might be a
- cheap way to test your modem. Someone please tell me if I am
- oversimplifying this.
-
- Of course, GS can't help on the receiving end, so it you want to send
- AND receive ....
