- Sorry to tell you this, but overscan doesn't work that way. According
- to the post from the interview with Sam T., the overscan will give you around
- 732x400 (I believe - I deleted the article) with overscan in the 640x400 mode.
- Overscan just makes the left/right boarders disappear - basically it starts
- early/delays the Hblank signal so that you get more pixels/scan line (horiz.
- line on monitor). It does not change the basic output frequency which is the
- big factor in determining screen Resolution (1024x768 needs a higher display
- signal frequency than a 640x400 - the 640x400 is just a "safe" size for the
- frequency of the signal, with margins for error (the borders) to keep from
- accidentally displaying over the rest of the screen, and to give the monitor
- time to "hide" its video gun as it aims it from one side of the screen to the
- other to get to the next scan line). So, unless you get a video card that
- is able to output a higher frequency for the larger screens, 732x400 is gonna
- be your max size.
