  23. Well, you said above that it will do 56,000bps uncompressed, so I guess the
  24. horizon isn't too far away. :^)

  26. From what I understand, before modems get significantly faster, we're going
  27. to need fiber optic lines.

  33. Your needs.  Some people may think 1200bps is fast enough for them.  I have
  34. a Supra V.32bis modem here and now I think it's too fast since my only other
  35. local 14.4kbps connection went bye-bye recently.

  40. The "old" Atari machines, like the MegaSTE and TT, already support astronomical
  41. speeds on their second through fourth modem ports.  STalker is the only term
  42. program I'm aware of that supports those faster speeds.  (Maybe Rufus too,
  43. or Connect?)

  49. I don't know, some people still use MS-DOS, so I guess 2400bps will still be
  50. around for a while. :^)
