- It is possible for a 1 MB machine to serve at least five or six further ST
- (with dedicated server software). What we did (began as hobby, now almost
- finished and quite a complex system): Transfer via the printer port (with
- about 400 Kbyte throughput parallel), dedicated server with new operating
- system, own file system (extended attributes, user management) and tools
- for administration (cron, mail, batch processor, loadable user overlays).
-
- Our problem is that we've an almost complete and quite complex system running
- here, but we don't have much documentation ready and so we cannot give it
- away. The other point is that a network will always be a commercial product;
- there's some hardware behind it and institutions setting up a network want
- to have support when they've got trouble with their installation etc.
-
- If you're interested in further information or a demo (1 client, 1 server :-),
- just send e-mail to me. Please don't regard this article as "commercial".
- We don't have a distributor for it.
-
- Waiting for flames...
