  21.     As several other posters have pointed out, there is no discussion 
  22. in news.groups. This could be because your crosspost was mistakenly 
  23. posted to _news.group_, as someone else pointed out, which means any 
  24. discussion would likely be going on in most systems junk directories, 
  25. unless they have just dropped it on the floor.

  27.     Also, if you check the newuser postings, you'll find an article 
  28. called "How to create a new newsgroup." This will give you all the 
  29. suggested guidelines for creating said group. Another suggested 
  30. source of interest is the " What is Usenet posting ".

  32.     One other thing. Two actually. You will find that an RFD will not
  33. be considered real until it has been mailed to tail@rpi. Secondly, on
  34. splits and reorganizations, it is customary to at least have a bit of
  35. discussion on the affected groups before issuing a RFD, so a well thought
  36. out charter and answers to the various questions that will be asked can 
  37. be answered.
  38.     Most of the questions I brought up in my original post are fairly 
  39. stock for news.groups regulars, and better answers are needed if you want 
  40. a snowball's chance of getting the group passed, which I think is unlikely 
  41. at best. In your proposal, you showed no reason why the new group would
  42. be any different in substance than c.s.a.st or c.s.a.st.tech. 
  43.     Why don't you just gateway the znet feed into c.s.a.st? It's not like
  44. we're drowning in messages as it is. 
  45.     Or better yet, gateway it to a mailing list, and let those interested
  46. subscribe.
