- Hi,
-
- I believe it is Cyrix that makes the chip, and that chip is (I believe)
- 32-bits wide. It gets upwards of the speed of the 486sx (which is 32-bits) and
- I can't imagine it performing that well on a 16bit bus. But you are right, its
- supposed to be pin compatible with the 386 (not sx).
-
- However, this would still require a 32-bit bus slot to work from. Come
- on, who gets serious speed out of a 16bit bus anymore (relative)? It would
- be ridiculous to expect serious coprocessor/alt. processor support out of
- a 16-bit slot, hence being "troubled" by the constant 386sx references.
- Could someone at Atari PLEASE! either confirm or deny this?
