- Oh c'mon, the answer is obviously price. The 68040 and high-speed memory
- would push the price way up. Don't forget the machine is not just a
- CPU-and-memory box, when you push clock rates up you usually have to boost
- the speed of all the custom chips, disk controllers, RAM controllers,
- video, etc etc. Atari are obviously trying to keep the price very low,
- an excellent idea IMHO. Also it is very likely there will be higher-end
- models with more horsepower. BTW, most of the Apple line use 030's.
