- There were a few more things worth noting in and around the 8/12/92 GEnie
- conference: Sam said he had just gotten back from seeing the first plant
- production of Falcons, and that they'd be shipping (somewhere) in a week.
- He predicted US shipments immediately after FCC class B certification, which
- he expects about mid-October. Atari is NOT seeking class A certification
- as a fall-back (would be pointless, anyway). The Falcon seems to be very
- well designed to fit the home computer/entertainment machine niche, and is
- clearly differentiated from the TT (video, expansion connector, serial ports).
-
- Bill Rehbock said that at least one third-party 'PC' emulator will be shown in
- a Falcon next week. He came as close as he could after the conference to
- saying that a 4MB RAM ST Book with a non-backlit display will be introduced
- as soon as technologically possible. Note that that's my interpretation.
-
- Sam also said that he doesn't expect large supplies of Falcons in the US
- IMMEDIATELY after FCC approval--there'll be some, and the supply will ramp
- up afterwards.
