  12. The difference between program switching and true multitasking is that
  13. the latter (also referred to as time sharing) continues the operations of
  14. two (or more) programs _simultaneously_.  Thus, you could recalculate a
  15. spreadsheet while working on a wordprocessor document.  Obviously this
  16. demands a great deal of CPU power, which is why it's not really workable
  17. even on most Macs.  Even a triple-speed GS would slow to a crawl!
