- bp664@cleveland.Freenet.Edu (Grover Thomas) writes re FDHD card and drive :
-
- >(1) Will it work with any FDHD Mac drive, or do you need the special

-
- It _should_, but I have Apple's drive (which is _not_ Apple II specific),
- so I can't be sure.
-
- >(2) Will it read existing 800K ProDOS disks?
- >(3) WIll it read existing 800K HFS disks?
- >(4) Will it read existing 720K IBM disks (perhaps via MS-DOS FST)?
-
- Yes! I have written a program to read MS-DOS disks and it works fine for
- both 720K and 1.4Mb MS-DOS disks. HFS and ProDOS are fine, too.
-
- The only problems arise when a program "assumes" that any 3.5" drive in
- slot 5 _must_ be the internal drive port, and branches to the relevant
- offsets in the ROM - which have changed!!! For example, FTA programs tend to
- put the card into self-test! Also, some copy-protected games don't work,
- although there are patches for most (usually to put them onto a hard disk,
- which amounts to the same thing).
-
- Cheers,
- Peter
