  13. Having recently (FINALLY!) joined the //gs community by acquiring a used
  14. GS, I have a question or two that I'd like answered.  My main concern
  15. right now is that the system I bought came with both an AppleDisk 3.5 and 
  16. a UniDisk 3.5.  The drives LOOK virtually identical externally (save for the
  17. different case colors), but they sure as heck get treated differently.  My
  18. complaint is that the finder (and other finder related programs) apparently
  19. poll the drives continuously, I guess looking for a new disk inserted or 
  20. something.  The result is that the access light on the Unidisk is continually
  21. flashing, accompanied by an annoying "tick.tick.tick.tick.tick"  This has the
  22. effect of not only being extremely annoying to listen to/look at, but also
  23. causes jerky reaction to certain desktop applications which may be doing 
  24. animation, etc.  (Such as a couple of game NDA's I have..)  Beyond that, I'm
  25. also concerned about the wear and tear it's causing on the drive itself.  Is
  26. there any neat solution?  I assume the driver could be patched, but I dunno
  27. if that's the solution I'm looking for.  I don't particularly wanna get 
  28. another drive either.  Any information would be appreciated.

  31. probably manage to figger 'em out for myself, or find someone local who 
  32. can help.)
