- There was a problem with the VME disk controller firmware under heavy
- I/O load (which your application may hit), but the result of the
- problem was always a crash with status 00270005 on our system.
-
- We have run many application like this on our DN10000 (we do molecular
- structure calcs too), but don't recall a problem like that where the
- system continued to operate except for the one process. There are many
- ways to crash/hang your system, especially with the older versions
- of Domain/OS and the original VME disk controllers and Ethernet cards.
- Are you sure you aren't running out of disk space -- on the older
- SR10.x.p, that would cause exactly the behaviour you are seeing: the
- process would hang waiting for disk space and would not be killed.
